Irena Radić will present a programme of pieces by Scarlatti, Beethoven, Scriabin and Poulenc at a free piano recital at St Johns, Peterborough at 1pm, this Sunday 16th June.

Irena won the title “Young Musician of the Year” at both the Peterborough and the Oundle Festivals of Music in March this year.  Felicity Kamminga, Peterborough’s Music festival secretary described Irena’s talent as startling and her performance as capable of creating an electric atmosphere.

Irena Radić is currently preparing for her Piano Diploma at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, where she is a Tsukanov scholar, studying piano with Lynette Stulting.  She is also studying for her A levels at The Kings School in Peterborough. (16th June)

The location can be tweeted:

Who put the peace beds in the Park?

CND logo.pngThe “peace beds” in Central park are failing to thrive and there is a proposal to give up and grass them over.  I am trying to establish exactly what the problem is, before deciding what I think of this.

Meanwhile I have no idea who put them there, or funded them.  Or when they were put there.

Or why.  Was it an event which inspired this?

I just suddenly noticed them one day and wondered how many hundreds of times I’d walked straight past them without spotting the CND symbol all cut out and planted up.
Does anybody know?

PECT coordinates this annual event. That is quite a job. Respect: especially for Ben: this year’s impresario.  The event brochure is here.
